In my distress I cried out to the Lord

In my distress I cried unto the Lord , and he heard me.
2
Deliver my soul, O Lord , from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
3
What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?(a) (b)

Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.(c)
5
Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!
6
My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.
7
I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.(d)

Stufengesang. Zu dem Herrn rufe ich, da ich in Drangsal bin, und er erhört mich.

Herr! rette meine Seele von ungerechten Lippen und von trügerischer Zunge!

Was wird man dir zuteilen oder welche Strafe dir zuteil werden lassen für deine tückische Zunge?

Scharfe Pfeile des Gewaltigen und versengende Kohlen.

Wehe mir, dass meine Pilgerschaft so lange dauert, dass ich wohne unter den Bewohnern Kedars! Zu lange schon ist meine Seele ein Fremdling.

Bei denen, die den Frieden hassen, bin ich friedlich; wenn ich mit ihnen rede, erheben sie Streit wider mich ohne Ursache!
